Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and light-brown sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Remove from oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
